How has this experience changed the groups perspective?

I think the following quote sums up the biggest perspective change out group has. Even though we felt like we were simply pulling weeds, the community was so grateful for the time we took to make their neighborhood more beautiful.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” -Aesop

Why do you feel volunteering with your church is so important?

It’s important for us to expose youth to a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, to help them find a place to serve that is meaningful and that they know makes a difference in our world. ~Cindy Klick

John Wang’s Atlanta Friends

Bachelor

10 volunteers on September 9, 2017

This was the first time John Wang’s Atlanta Friends volunteered. This was a group of guys visiting from Atlanta for a friend’s bachelor party.

Why did you decide to include volunteering in the bachelor party?

We believe in giving back to communities that we are a part of and servanthood so even though we wanted to explore Denver and have fun. We also wanted to leave it a better place than when we first encountered it. Since we were getting together as a large group of 12-13 guys, we could leverage the combined manpower of that group effort to do more things. We all enjoy active lifestyles and wanted to do something physical. ~James Wang

West Colfax Association of Neighbors

WeCan-L

10 volunteers on October 7  (plus a May date), 2017

West Colfax Association of Neighbors have volunteered twice a year for the Work Days in their neighborhood since 2010. This group is the registered neighborhood organization for the West Colfax neighborhood, and people who are part of the group live in West Colfax.

How have you seen your neighborhood transform, as you’ve been volunteering  in your neighborhood?

The main thing I’ve seen happen in our neighborhood is just the number of new people moving into the community that want to come out and get involved. It is so great to see the commitment to West Colfax. ~Leah Rounds
