In this time when hugs and high-fives are not proper social distancing recommendations, let’s find ways to care for others and stay connected, in order to avoid social isolation. This message will give you a few ideas during these challenging times. Before we get to that, let’s continue hearing how some of our most committed volunteers got involved in Extreme Community Makeover. This month’s story comes from Madison, who is the leader of the Follow-Up Team and a member of the Board of Directors.
We want to check-in with some of the older residents we’ve met through Extreme Community Makeover over the years, since this population is most vulnerable right now. Thus, we are launching an online volunteer campaign called “Caring During Corona”. Volunteers can call and check-in to see how these folks are doing and if they need anything right now. After signing up to volunteer at the link below, we will be in touch with details about how to contact the person with whom you’ve been matched. This video tells more about the campaign.
Another good volunteer resource to explore is Help Colorado Now, which is looking for volunteers to help at-risk individuals across the state get through the COVID-19 crisis.
We will be cancelling the April 4 Work Day and the May 9 Go: Westwood project. Hopefully we will be able to get the season up and running by June though. We will keep in touch as things unfold.
2020 Schedule (Subject to Change): Saturdays: June 20, July 18, August 8, September 12, October 17Weekdays: June 9, June 25, July 7, July 23
Extreme Yard Care jobs will begin soon. To add jobs to the schedule (aeration, fertilization, sprinkler start-ups, spring clean-ups, etc.) send us an email. Check out the website for a full list of jobs.
Times are tough right now, but let’s use this time to recognize how we need each other…much more than we might realize. Let’s make each day count by committing to spread smiles and kind words.
